The Butter and the Bread a Motivational story
Here is another release of the
motivational story from one the best corporate trainers in Lucknow. He also
acts as a leadership consultant and
the motivational speaker. The story
is narrated to me in a seminar that I have attended a few days before. I am
going to summarize it to you for the required motivation of the readers. This
story is based on the theme, what you get is what you give.
Here is the story without any further
delay:
Once upon a time in the old village,
a man used to sell butter to the baker. The baker was rich and had the
reputation of selling good quality bread to the people in the same village. On
the other side of the story, the character of butter seller is the exact
opposite. No, surely not, he was not a dishonest man but people usually did not
trust him because of his poverty. He had a cow. He used to sell its milk and
from the remains, he made delicious butter to sell it to the baker. The baker and
the butter seller had a good relationship. The baker was buying the butter from
this butter seller for almost the span of five years.
One day, he realized the weight of
the butter is slightly lesser than normal. He enquired about the weight of the
butter but the butter seller denied the accusation. The baker did not do
anything for the first time. The next month, again, when the wait was found to
be lesser than the usual he decided to take action against the butter seller.
He told the butter seller that he was going to sue him before the judge of the
village. The butter seller was confident and said I would come before the judge
to present my point. Both were agreed to face the trial before the judge.
The judge of the village summoned
both the baker and the butter seller. The judge asked, what is the matter with
you? Oh! Butter seller, “Why are you selling the butter to the baker in the
less quantity for the same price?” he added. The butter seller explained his
point to the judge. He said, “My Lord! I am a poor man, I don’t have dead
weights to measure the amount of bread but I have measuring scale.”
The judge asked, “How do you sell
the butter without knowing the amount?” The butter seller replied, “I used to
buy the bread form the baker to eat in the morning. I put the loaf of the bread
on one scale and the butter on the second to measure the quantity of butter.”
He performed the measuring in front of the judge. The judge was sure that it
was not the fault of butter seller but the fault of baker. The judge punished
the baker with fine and let the butter seller go with the amount to buy dead
weights for the business.
