My Daughters Box a Motivational Story

As I always state the motivation is the key to fight the odds of life. Here is another story from the session of motivational speaker and a leadership consultant in Lucknow. This time, it is about the importance of family in our life. We usually neglect them when it comes to our professional life. The family is the only support left when we lost everything. We have to give them the utmost importance to the family as we always find time to work but for them, it is hard to find, to be honest.

Once in a small town, a man sells gift wrappers to the children. He has a collection of beautiful paper which he uses it to make beautiful gift wrappers. He works hard in the night to shape raw papers into a beautiful artwork of gift wrappers. And in the morning he uses them to sell in the market as well as door to door. He earns a bit but it is the only thing he can do. He is blessed with a daughter. She is ambitious and loves his father dearly. 

Soon winters arrive in the city; the city is full of snow all around. The business of the man is about to down but whenever a difficulty arises there comes the time to celebrate. This is the time for Christmas. The daughter decided to surprise his father by giving him a gift. She takes a golden paper and wraps a box for his father. Next Morning, the man receives an order to deliver the golden paper to the customer. He comes home and starts to look for his golden paper. He sees few of the strips of the golden paper and realises that his daughter may have cut the golden paper. He scolds his daughter and says to stay away from the gift wrappers. The daughter cries but not a single word she utters. On the Christmas Eve, the daughter delivers the gift to his father in the same golden paper. The father smiles and hugs his daughter in love. He asks for forgiveness about his behaviour. The celebration is about to start and the man opens his gift in private to see what is the gift of his daughter. There is nothing in the box. “You suppose to put something in the box to be called as a gift,” he says to his daughter. The daughter says, “I put kisses in that box”, daughter replies with tears in her eyes.

“Sorry, my love I didn’t look carefully”, says the father. The daughter died in the accident. The father has nothing in this world. Whenever he misses his daughter he takes out that box and gains imaginary kisses of his daughter from the box. He has no one to earn for, he regrets all his life that when he has his daughter he doesn’t have time. Now he has all the time in the world but one to share.
