Who are the real Poor? Motivational Story
The motivational stories are the
needs of the people around the globe. They inspire us just like the motivational speaker or a leadership consultant. Today, I am
bringing the story of a rich man who wants to teach his son a lesson about
poverty. The man has experienced the poverty in his early days. His son has not
yet faced the taste of poverty in his life. He has a plan to take his son to
live with a poor family in nearby town.
“What are your plans this weekend
son?” the father asks the son. “Nothing amazing Dad”, the son replied with a
sad face. “Let’s go for a trip somewhere”, the father added. “Yeah, But where?”
the son asked in a curious manner. “I have a friend living on the outskirts of
the town”, he said. “Why not stay with them for a couple of days?” the father
suggested. “Okay dad, I will do my packing for the trip.”
The father is happy as he now has a
chance to teach his son what he always wants to. The importance of wealth and
living in the poverty are the main lessons in them. They both start the journey
and reach the destination on the outskirts of the town. On reaching, they
receive a grand welcome from the poor friend of his dad and his family.
Everyone is happy and his son is
enjoying the environment outside of the town where no more sound of automobiles
can be heard. Everything is peaceful and cheerful. The days pass quickly
without even realising. It is the time when they have to leave to their own
home. The son is sad now as he has to leave the fabulous environment over here.
They pack their bags and ready to leave with a promise that they will soon
return for another happy weekend. The son says goodbye to the family of his
father’s friend with tears in the eyes.
Soon, they reach home safely. The
father and the son meet at the dining table later that evening. The father
realises that this is the time to ask the son what he has learnt from the
trip.
“So tell me, son, what you have
learnt from this trip?” the father enquired. The son answered, “I saw that we
have one dog and they had four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of
our garden, and they have a bay that has no end. We have imported lanterns in
our garden, and they have the stars at night. Our patio reaches to the front
yard, and they have the whole horizon. We have a small piece of land to live
on, and they have fields that go beyond our sight. We have servants who serve
us, but they serve others. We buy our food, but they grow theirs. We have walls
around our property to protect us; they have friends to protect them.”
